Introducing: Plural’s Political Party Dashboard
Plural's Party Dashboard is a comparative tool designed to analyze and track political parties and party systems across Latin America. It allows users to study who holds power, how parties perform electorally, and how party systems evolve over time, country by country.
By bringing together party profiles, electoral results, and legislative balance, the dashboard makes it easier to compare cases, identify patterns, and understand shifts in political competition and governance across the region.
What's inside
Country profiles. An overview of each country's party system, covering electoral results, legislative balance, and information on each party.
Election comparisons. Analysis across elections within each country: who is up, who is down, who entered congress and who left, together with information on governing coalitions and opposition strength.
Country comparisons. A tool to compare two to four countries at a time on number of parties, party strength, ideological leanings, and what ties them together.
Affiliation network. The international party families that connect Latin American parties across borders, from regional alliances to global party networks.
How it's built
Electoral data is drawn from official electoral management bodies and national congress websites. Party affiliations are verified against the official websites of both the party and its international family. Country context draws on established sources such as Latinobarómetro, LAPOP, and V-Dem, alongside academic and policy research.
